Princess Anne County, MD adopted the current IBC and IRC as set forth in the Maryland Building Performance Standards (COMAR 05.02.07). Princess Anne County, MD Municipal Code § 52-5 (adopted). Maryland Building Performance Standards (COMAR 05.02.07) § 02.04 A1 (adopt IBC), § 02.04 B (amend IBC), § 02.04 A2 (adopt IRC), § 02.04 C (amend IRC).

The 2009 International Residential Code, Appendix G, pool and spa requirements, is hereby adopted, and the provisions thereof shall be controlling for swimming pools, hot tubs and spas within the corporate limits of the Town of Princess Anne, Maryland.

Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

Per the Maryland Building Performance Standards (Maryland Code, Public Safety Article, § 12-501 and COMAR 05.02.07), IRC Appendix J (which provides guidance on existing buildings) is NOT adopted as part of the code.

Commercial Building Code

Princess Anne adopted the 2015 IBC, statewide with limitations. Note that adoptions usually come with amendments. So, it is important to review those amendments in addition to the unamended model code.
